Welcome & Scope","body":"**1.1** Pro28 is the governing body for 1/28th scale radio control car racing. These rules are written so a **weekly race program can run them as-is** — no local rewrite needed.\n\n**1.2 Everyone gets a class.** If you show up with a car, we will find the class it fits. New driver on a box-stock car, a shelf queen from ten years ago, or a full mod build — there is a grid for it. Nobody gets turned away for having the wrong car.\n\n**1.3** A club may apply to sanction an event. Sanctioned events must publish which classes they are running at least 14 days before race day.\n\n**1.4** The Race Director has final authority on race day. Where a club rule, this book and the Race Director conflict, the Race Director wins. Protests of a Race Director ruling go to Pro28 within 7 days."},{"id":"classes-detail","title":"2. How a Class is Defined","body":"Every Pro28 class is defined by the same six things. Nothing else separates one class from another.\n\n- **Body style and construction** — hardshell or Lexan polycarbonate, and what shape of car it has to be.\n- **Drivetrain** — 2WD or AWD.\n- **Battery** — chemistry and cell format.\n- **Motor** — the limit for that class.\n- **Speed control** — see 2.1.\n- **Chassis** — open, or restricted (Box Stock and AAA only).\n\n**2.1 Speed controls are OPEN in every class.** There is no blinky rule and no timing restriction, because no proper blinky buster exists yet for this scale. When one does, Pro28 will publish a spec and this rule changes. Until then, run what you have — nobody is being teched on an ESC.\n\n**2.2** A class runs with a minimum of 3 entries. Below 3, the club may combine classes on track and score them separately.\n\n**2.3** A driver may enter multiple classes but may not run two entries in the same class."},{"id":"dimensions","title":"3. Weight & Dimensions","body":"These apply to **every class**, with no exceptions.\n\n**3.1 Minimum weight: 160 g**, ready to run — battery in, body on.\n\n**3.2 Maximum width: 80 mm**, measured at the widest point of the car **including the wing**.\n\n**3.3** Wheelbase must suit the body being run. Bodies must sit on the wheelbase they were designed for.\n\n**3.4** Ballast must be securely fastened. Loose or taped ballast is an automatic fail at tech.\n\n**3.5** 3D printed chassis and parts are legal in every class. The chassis must fit the class it is entered in and meet every dimension, weight and spec rule for that class."},{"id":"bodies","title":"4. Bodies","body":"**4.1** Hardshell classes run a rigid moulded body. Lexan classes run a polycarbonate shell. A class listing says which; where it says either, either is legal.\n\n**4.2** Bodies must be a realistic representation of a full-size car appropriate to the class.\n\n**4.3** Bodies must be painted, mounted and in one piece. Bare, cracked or heavily damaged bodies fail tech.\n\n**4.4** Wings and splitters must be of a type fitted to the real car or supplied for that body. No open-ended aero. **The wing counts toward the 80 mm width limit.**\n\n**4.5** Every car must carry a legible number visible from above."},{"id":"power","title":"5. Batteries & Radio","body":"**5.1** Battery chemistry and cell format are set per class — see the class cards above.\n\n**5.2** Maximum voltage at the start of a race for the LiPo/LiFe classes: TBD V measured at tech.\n\n**5.3** Charging is at the driver's own risk. Charging happens in the designated charging area, in a bag or tray, and never unattended.\n\n**5.4** A visibly swollen, punctured or damaged pack is not permitted on the property.\n\n**5.5** 2.4 GHz radio gear only. Any radio that interferes with the timing system must be shut off on request."},{"id":"tires","title":"6. Tires","body":"**6.1** Tire additive, sauce and traction compound are **not** permitted at Pro28 sanctioned events unless the event listing states otherwise.\n\n**6.2** Truing and sanding is permitted. Cutting, grooving and chemical treatment are not.\n\n**6.3** Foam inserts are open unless the class listing restricts them.\n\n**6.4** Where a class runs a control tire, it is listed in the appendix. Compound must be stamped or marked; unmarked tires are illegal."},{"id":"format","title":"7. Race Format","body":"Built for a weekly program: one night, in and out.\n\n**7.1** A standard Pro28 race night is 3 qualifiers and 1 main.\n\n**7.2** Qualifying is round-by-round; a driver's best single round counts.\n\n**7.3** Mains are 5 minutes, unless the event listing states otherwise.\n\n**7.4** Mains are seeded off qualifying. A-main is the top qualifiers, then B, C and so on.\n\n**7.5** A race starts on the timing system's countdown. A car not on the track at the tone starts from the back of the pack when it joins.\n\n**7.6** Every driver marshals the heat immediately after their own unless excused by the Race Director."},{"id":"conduct","title":"8. Driving Standards & Penalties","body":"**8.1** The car being passed is entitled to its line. The car making the pass is responsible for making it cleanly.\n\n**8.2** Cutting the course to gain a position: the position must be given back on the next straight. Failure to give it back is a lap penalty.\n\n**8.3** Repeatedly driving into another car is a stop-and-go. A third offence in one event is a disqualification from that event.\n\n**8.4** Abuse of a marshal, a corner worker or the Race Director is an immediate disqualification from the event.\n\n**8.5** New and returning drivers get coaching, not penalties. A first offence from someone learning the etiquette is a word in the ear.\n\n**8.6** Penalties available to the Race Director: warning, stop-and-go, lap deduction, disqualification from the heat, disqualification from the event."},{"id":"tech","title":"9. Technical Inspection","body":"**9.1** Weight and width are checked at tech. Those two numbers are the ones that get checked every night.\n\n**9.2** All cars are subject to tech before the main and at random during qualifying.\n\n**9.3** Impound: the top 3 finishers of every main report to tech immediately. Leaving the area before being released is a disqualification.\n\n**9.4** A car that fails tech loses the result of the heat it was teched from.\n\n**9.5** A deliberate attempt to defeat a spec rule is a disqualification from the event and a report to Pro28.\n\n**9.6** Speed controls are not teched.
